Latah Love performance during the Franklin Street “One Night Stand”/Barren Places” event on March 14th. During the course of the show viewers outside the window were provided with marking tools and encouraged to make drawings. Inside the window masked E.S. agents armed with crayons strove to mirror the movements of the outside participants.
“Latah Love” was a performance that attempted to invert the expectations of the public attending the art exhibition.
The artist’s role here is to mimic the creative whims of the public in real time. The performance questions the notion of “originality” and the artist as a spring of creativity or clever imagery.
