presents The ‘IN’ Sound; a night of jazz aesthetic
explorations. The cornerstone of the evening will be
the the Tampa Premier of the documentary film THIS IS
Gary McFarland which details the tragically short and
relatively obscure but ultimately prolific and
innovative career of Gary McFarland. As a vibe player,
arranger, composer, and groovy hummer/whistler
extraordinaire, McFarland crafted a hip musical
aesthetic that merged Big Band, Bossa Nova, and
Beatles inspired Pop. McFarland died an untimely and
controversial death at age 38 leaving behind a
stunning body of work on the Verve and Impulse labels
as well as his own Skye label.
The ‘IN’ Sound will also include a comprehensive
collection of of Gary’s album covers as well as over 100
iconic and obscure album covers from Verve, Blue
Note , Impulse,Fantasy,Clef, and other Jazz labels by
artists such as David St. Martin a
